Geocache Description:

In the early days of settlement there was no bridge here and the orchards on the eastern bank of the Kalgan had to transport their produce to Albany via small boats. In 1905 a bridge was built, a part of which has been preserved nearby. In 1958 the "new bridge" was built.

In caching history there was once a magnificent cache here. The trouble was it required much patience because it was hidden just metres from a popular fishing haunt. It took me seven visits before I found the place empty of fishermen and able to retrieve the cache. Of course it took just one impatient cacher to reveal the cache to those fishy customers and the cache subsequently disappeared.

The new cache is not under the new bridge. Nor is it a marvellous construction or a fantastic hide. But it it does bring you to a nice spot with a bit of history.

The cache is about the size of a mint tin so you will need to bring a pen.
