This is the third bridge to span the Otakaro/ Avon River at this site. Brand new post quake rebuild in place after significant lateral spread and uplift damaged its 1954 predecessor beyond repair. Before that the original bridge dated back to the 1880s
There is no need to go far under- please stay away from the services under the bridge. Approach from the upstream side. Should be found above any floodlines I hope!
