Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of caches placed along the 5km Attychraan Loop walk in Galty Castle Woods. Phone signal is unreliable here, so we recommend that you download the information before you leave home.

Why do we Irish call these palm trees... it's a mystery.

If you are doing this cache as part of the series, we recommend that you follow the blue arrow route, heading uphill from the parking area, making Beechroot the first cache done in the set. The loop follows woodland trails, forest tracks and roadways in Galty Castle Woods, crossing the Funshion and the Attychraan Rivers with fine views of the countryside and spectacular views of the Galtee Mountains opening up as you travel.

The GPS may not be the most accurate due to tree coverage but the rather unusual cache name and spoiler photo should solve this problem. This path is not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs and can get very mucky.

In spring 2022 the original large palm tree was cut down, and the cache was moved to a smaller specimen nearby.

The cache is a small tupperware box.
