Welcome to the Tri-Town Geocoin Event. Why Tri-Town you ask? Cold Lake was first recorded on a 1790 map, by the name of Coldwater Lake. Originally three communities, Cold Lake was formed by merging the Town of Grand Centre, the Town of Cold Lake, and Medley (Canadian Forces Base 4 Wing) on October 1, 1996. Grand Centre was renamed Cold Lake South, and the original Cold Lake is known as Cold Lake North. Because of its origins, the area is also known as the Tri-Town.
With the popularity of Geocoins and travelbugs, what better way to finish off a MEGA day than with an event dedicated to these pieces of art. As part of the Mega, we are minting new geocoins which can be purchased along with your registration. Be sure and get yours to assure you don't miss out!
The Geocoin Event will be held Saturday night, after dinner.
Date: Saturday, July 9th, 2016
Time: 7:00pm to 9:30pm
Located in the Mega Mall area of the Energy Centre
This time is approximate, as we will be setting up right after the dinner, but should be very close to the 7:00 start.
For Geocoins, there will be tables set up for those who would like to do some trading with other cachers, so bring your extras and doubles and have fun trading and of course meeting fellow cachers from abroad and sharing stories about their geocoins. There will be room for those who would like to display some of their geocoins for discovery. However, for those who wish to display geocoins, even though Geocachers are the greatest people you will ever meet, please watch over your geocoins so none of them go missing. SRT (Sails, Rails, Tails-Westcan6) 2016 will not be responsible for any that go missing.
Also, don't forget those little pathtags that we all love to find in caches. Bring them and trade them!
Only one other thing to mention. In order to keep travellers moving as they all want to, we ask that if you drop off any, please take the same number of travellers with you when you leave. This way they can all get a little closer to their goals and we don't end up with possible hundreds of travellers left behind to move on! Thanks for helping out with this.
