My grandfather used to use this phrase, and I never really understood why the subject was a skunk, other than it rhymed. It just means someone is quite intoxicated.
I was born and raised in Texas. I was surrounded by family and friends that had all sorts of interesting sayings for things. Where else to share old country sayings? Why, the country, of course!
