Geocache Description:

Reminiscent of golden fire hydrant in San Francisco, Burlingame has its very own golden fire hydrant, located in front of the main library building.

The cache is located in an area with many muggles during library hours. Thus, it is a nano and will require stealth to retrieve and replace. You may want to have a TOTT to remove the log from the container. There are some nice benches nearby where you can sit while you sign the log and enjoy the two lions, Wonder and Wisdom, who will be observing you the whole time, so be on your best behavior.

Why is there a golden hydrant? Thanks to some fine research by the Burlingame Public Library, with a hint provided by a nearby plaque, it seems that Paul Borg did the work of coloration on the hydrant as a sort of celebration for his 35 years with the city. He was a Water Department staff member at the time and retired in 1999 shortly after this work was done.

If you should know more about the story behind the hydrant, share it in your log entry and I may add it to the description.
