"Fiddle-Dee-Dee" ~ Scarlett O'Hara, Gone With the Wind
As I said, this cache will be easy. In fact, I am going to tell you exactly where it is (or should be). You are looking for a fake 'Gone With the Wind' book that is locked. Be gentle with it please! You have two choices, do the easy puzzle to get the combo OR try all 1,000 possible combinations to sign the log. When you enter the library, go right and downstairs (there is an elevator if needed). Turn right and you'll see two paintings on the wall. Go towards them, and to your left is a cabinet along the wall, the cache is on this cabinet. See, easy! Now let's get that combo!
Your first stages are at the Xeriscape Garden outside. They are in additional waypoints as: Xeriscape North and Xeriscape South. At the North sign, find what zone that the Purple Gayfeather can be found in. This will equal A. Now find the max elevation for the Japanese Tree Lilac. Assign the thousandth’s place digit as B.
Now let’s head to the South sign. What zone has the Panicum virgatum ‘Heavy Metal’? Assign this number to C. What is the mature height of the Pinus leucodermis? This will be D.
Now enter the portal near the posted coords and head upstairs. Find the door straight ahead from the stairs to go outside and onto the beautiful terrace with a roof garden. There is a plaque on the short wall for the roof garden near the middle. How many letters are in the first word on the plaque? (The name Webdog is on the plaque to know you are in the right spot) Let this number equal E. Feel free to take a moment to enjoy this area before heading to your final waypoint.
Now that you have checked out the xeriscape and roof gardens, let's go all the way downstairs and check out some beautiful paintings. Go downstairs and turn right, you will see them on the wall in front of you. This art is within feet of the geocache. These paintings were done by P. Hayakaura. What number did the artist sign next to their name? This number will be assigned as F.
Now that you have A through F, the cache is right by you, and you're ready to open it, and sign the log. To open the cache, the combo is (F x C) + (D – A – B) + E. See, easy, as promised! Again, be careful with the final and lock it up and place it back on the counter when you are done. Thanks for playing, and happy caching!
Special thanks to Erinita for making room for this cache!
