Geocache Description:

Two stage multi cache, in the vintage neon series. Tweezers. Write TINY and no dates, to reduce maintenance. Replace carefully as found.

This sign has no neon per se, but is of the 1960s era, and displays the long curved arrow that is typical of the time and often accompanied a neon sign back in the day. Simple two stage multicache. Stage I is on a one-way road, so as you leave Stage I note that you need to bear right after leaving the parking lot, and curve around under the overpass to get to stage II.

On the brown base of the sign there is a little sign with a ten digit security company phone number. Use these numbers to figure the final coordinates.

N 32 11. A B 4

W 110 57. C D 7

A= 2nd digit in phone #

B= 2nd digit in phone #, plus one

C= 9th digit in phone #

D= last digit in phone #

The Silver Saddle Steakhouse was born in 1980 from the remnants of the old Pickwick Inn coffee shop, which has a place in Tucson history as being the last holdout to allow black customers after a week of picketing by the NAACP in fall 1963. The Alva family took it over in April 1984.

Inside, an antique buggy wheel with welded horseshoes is used to raise the cooking grill above the wood fire. They burn Arizona's native mesquite wood in their BBQ, and this can produce temperatures greater than 2000 degrees Fahrenheit.

FTF: tugies!

As of the published date, this is the 28th cache in the Vintage Neon series. There are 8 Wherigos, 10 traditionals, and 10 multicaches in this series, mostly in Tucson, but some of the Wherigos are in Mesa and Phoenix.
