Geocache Description:

This cache is dedicated to the memory of the Bartlesville Interurban Railway.

WARNING: Geocaching can be dangerous! The terrain is set to 4.5 because this is a very hard cache. If retrieving and replacing this cache safely is beyond your capabilities, please try one of the other 50+ caches in Bartlesville.

The image on this page is an actual photo of the bridge that used to be here and the railcar that once crossed it.

The Interurban Railway was an electric streetcar service that ran from 1908 to 1920. The railway had a downtown loop, connected Bartlesville to Dewey Oklahoma, as well as the zinc smelting factories to the west of town. Almost all traces of the Bartlesville Interurban Railway have been lost to history, but evidence of its existence can still be found in the form of concrete pilings in the surrounding woods. This cache is located on top of what remains of the railway's Caney River bridge.

This cache is in plain sight. You should be able to see it before you even get to the hiding spot (D1). Retrieving it, however, will require TOTT (T4.5). If you cannot replace this cache, please hide it somewhere and let me know where it is so that I may replace it.

A new FTF Magazine geocoin is waiting for the FTF.
