Cubs 100 Years (Manawatu) Traditional Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

TheCoddiwompler: Hi Apleseed2

This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no cache maintenance logged. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines.

I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.

Whatever your intentions, please post a note here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.

Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

Regards
TheCoddiwompler

Geocache Description:

100 years of Cub Scouts!!!! This special cache has been put here by West End Cub Pack to celebrate.  They have left a few cloth badges in the cache and have a special request that you leave a cloth badge in return so they can add it to their centenary blanket.

2016 marks the 100th year anniversary of Cub Scouts!  The West End Cub Pack has made this special geocache to celebrate.  This geocache is located at the home of Palmerston North's oldest surviving Scout Group.  Scouts began in Great Britain in 1908 by Lord Baden-Powell, the movement went global and in 1913 the 3rd Palmerston North, West End Scout Group was established.

Our Ferguson Street Hall has been our home since around 1949 when a hall was built on land gifted to us by the Collins family. Prior to this the group met at the West End School site.  The hall was created by putting together a pair of recycled Army huts from Linton. Bizarrely they were turned inside out and then a new skin put on the outside.

The group's scarf colours are black and white and are taken from the West End school just across the road in Botanical Road and are special in New Zealand as only a few groups are allowed to display what are considered by our National office as the National colours of Scouting New Zealand.

The area is a hive of  fun and activity catering for kids of all backgrounds age 5-14 with a Kea Club, Cub Pack and Scout Troop- there is always an adventure happening!  Please do not hunt for the cache if you notice one of these groups at the hall, but come back when it's all quiet.

The container has plenty of room for swappables, and the kids have added some cloth badges.  If you are able to leave a cloth badge for the kids it would be much appreciated!
