During the early hours of March 4th 2015 a fire ripped through the upper floor of a nearby pub completely destroying the first floor and the roof. At the height of the fire 9 appliances tackled the blaze which went on for several hours. Adjoining cottages were evacuated during this time. Since this happened the pub remained untouched with signs of what happened on that devastating night.
Strong winds and heavy rain on the night of the 26th January 2016 caused part of the front wall to collapse onto the pavement, causing concern over the stability of the remaining structure. It was decided that with immediate effect the remains of the building were to be demoslished, so the workers moved in.
Today, if you look towards the centre of the village you will see the location of where this pub once stood, leaving a hole in the village.
