Geocache Description:

This is the Farnsley - Kaufman Cemetery, a family cemetery of at least 13 documented graves and several undocumented and unmarked graves. The David Farnsley 1812 homestead and 1832 addition can be seen south across the field from the cemetery. The house and outbuildings are currently fenced off as many of them are falling apart. David Farnsley's brother was Gabriel Farnsley, who built the home at Riverside, part of the Farnsley - Moreman Landing, seven miles further south from here. This cemetery went through an extensive restoration in 2007 - clearing of overgrowth and reparations of grave markers.

David Farnsley was the first to be buried in this cemetery in 1833.
It is believed that David's wife, Sarah "Sally" Meriwether Farnsley Williams, was the second burial in this cemetery although there is no grave marker for her. It is thought that Sarah's second husband, the carpenter who did the 1831 house addition, Ebenezer Williams, may also be buried in the cemetery as other Williams family members are buried here.
David and Sally's daughter Martha Elizabeth married Ebenezer's son George and had six children. At least three of the Williams children are buried here, all having died young in 1854, most likely as victims of the cholera epidemic. One of these three boys, David Arthur Williams' headstone has actually been surrounded by the tree standing in the cemetery.
David and Sally's daughter Mary Rebecca and her husband Dr. John Lloyd, as well as at least three of their six children, are also buried here (see the obelisk in the northern part of the cemetery).
Ebenezer and Sally's daughter, Sarah "Sallie" Ebenezer married Samuel Taylor Suit, a distiller, and had one son, Ebenezer Williams Weller Suit. Sallie and her 5 day old son are most likely buried in the same grave under a shared headstone as her son died within days after her, November 26 1857. Their headstone and grave can be seen in the northwest corner of the cemetery.

The cache is hidden outside of the cemetery fence. The cemetery is next to a middle school and sports field, so be mindful of high traffic and non-geocacher times.

There are no hours posted for this cemetery, however this cache is not recommended at night. Please be mindful and respectful of others who may have business here that is certainly more important than yours.
