Animal control has always been a community issue. Although the current day offenders are typically stray dogs and cats, during the formative years of our reigons townships and villages, roaming and wandering livestock presented the problem. Erected in 1771, these dry-laid fieldstone walls were once used to contain wayward domestic animals until they were claimed (and a fine paid) by their owners.
