The park was originally part of the grounds of Pershore Abbey, a Norman building of which only the monk's choir and south transept remain, the nave and side chapels being removed during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII, and other parts falling into ruin, As in many towns where abbeys, etc, were destroyed, the stone was spirited away into the fabric of more secular buildings.
The park is very close to the centre of the town and has mature trees, a wetland area, a tree carving sculpture and plenty of open grass. There is a children's playground, a children's water play area and also a skate park. It is also the setting for events in the town, particularly the Plum Festival in August.
There is both free and paid parking nearby with a long stay car park on the other side of the park from the cache location. If you're looking for a cache and dash, try either Broad Street, Nogains or St Andrews Road, both off the Defford Road near the cache site.
The location is on a broad pavement but next to a busy road so take care of children and other animals
The cache is a small, screw-top tube, easily accessible. You will need a pen and probably tweezers.
Congratulations to Thejenks7 for FTF!
