Geocache Description:

This cache has been repaired and is ready for cachers. This cache is located within the Upper Pithlachascotee River Preserve (also known as Cotee River Preserve). This park is located off SR 52 in the Spring Hill area. Follow the signs off 52 onto Kent Grove Dr, to Orange Dr and then a right turn onto Minneola Dr (Orange Dr and Minneola Dr are in poor condition) The park is at the end of Minneola Dr. - See long description

This cache has been moved to slightly to avoid vandalism by Muggles. The original cache has either gone down the river or someone has carried it off. Unfortunately it is now just a plain cache. My friend, John P Greene took great care to make this cache different and exceptional. He passed in December 2016. We, TRG club maintains these caches in his memory. Sorry John we are not as clever or imaginative as you. The park includes hiking trails, a Boardwalk Trail, a Drinking Water Station, a play ground area, and a parking area. This cache is located along the southernmost trails through some beautiful natural wetlands, beyond the boardwalk, still further south, past the power lines, right at the fork in the trail and onto a beautiful view at the bank of the Pithlachascotee River itself. Now, about the cache- it is before you reach the bank of the river. However, it is called "Thunder ball. Thunderball was an early James Bond saga featuring "Blowfeld, as the super villain and nemesis of the British crown number one agent. The movie featured lots of under water gadgets. In fact; it is reported that the CIA was so impressed with the mini-breather gadget, that they actually contacted Ian Flemming about how it works. Of course, Flemming told them it only works with movie magic. Why do I tell you this? At one point, when John first put the cache here it was a locked box that led you to the cache. It was placed there by none other than the super spy himself! Your mission; should you choose to accept it, is to crack the code of the locked box to obtain access to the cache log. Enjoy the view of the subtropical wetlands, but watch your step along the trail to avoid tripping over many tree roots that cross the path. Happy Hunting to all! Q 🍀JPG🍀 You do not need the code, since the tool box is noi longer available. Which is too bad. My late friend, 🍀JPG🍀, worked very hard to design these unique caches. I hope you enjoy his other caches in this lovely park.
