Canada is famous for all of the brilliant comedians that have come out of the "Great White North" - Dan Aykroyd, Mike Myers, Russell Peters, Howie Mandel, Jim Carrey, the entire SCTV troupe (John Candy, Martin Short, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Andrea Martin, Dave Thomas, Rick Moranis, Joe Flaherty) and the list goes on...
But long before any of those people were famous we had the late, great Leslie Nielsen! Leslie was born in 1926 in Regina and he passed away in 2010. Leslie started his career in 1950 in TV and eventually moved into movies. Some of his hundreds of television appearances included Rawhide, The Untouchables, The Fugitive, Daniel Boone, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Gunsmoke, Mod Squad, M*A*S*H, Hawaii Five-O, Kung Fu, Columbo, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, and many more.
Although Leslie acted in many movies he is best remembered as Lt. Frank Drebin in the Naked Gun movies and of course as Dr. Rumack in the two Airplane movies. Click on the picture of Leslie below to view one of his classic scenes from the movie Airplane.
