A GPS is illegal on Cuba although a smartphone with the Geocaching app is perfectly OK. Bizarre.
Having said that, the lack of wifi in Cuba creates problems and a pocket query I tried to save disappeared off my phone, so I did a local search by switching on 3G data for a couple of minutes.
In any event, all the caches we did on the island had detailed descriptions so that they could be found without a GPS if necessary, and I will follow this precedent.
The cache is a 35mm film pod located by a bus stop opposite the Los Palmeras Hotel on the far side of the road. It is under the plinth in the corner covered by a small stone - see spoiler photos.
A local guy we met has promised to keep an eye on the cache and replace full logs, and our son-in-law visits Cuba regularly as a tour guide so the cache should be well maintained.
You will need a pen or pencil - a geocacher without a pen is like a pelican without a Cadillac!
Congratulations to smrtkid5 for the FTF. A smart kid indeed!
