As a child I was always quite taken with secret fairy hideouts and I could often see the routes they would take across tress and boulders, sprinkled with fairy dust! This spot is a favourite of mine and Geodog and we walk here often. As an adult I can still picture the fairies dancing around here, if you do spot one be careful not to frighten it, I hear they can become quite defensive when startled!
Please start at the trailhead marked on the map so as not to leave the footpaths which is a requirement of being allowed to place this cache. The footpath is quite narrow and not very even underfoot at times so please be careful and only undertake this cache if you dont mind potentially getting muddy! On the day of placing the cache, there was melting snow on the ground and the path was quite slippy in places.
If you then continue along the path after finding the cache, the route out takes you past some defences laid by the fairies to deter muggles coming in that way, there is not much to get past but I can see how it would deter the big people from coming in that way!
Please feel free to upload photos of the area as the seasons change, it can be quite beautiful and magical in here, the snowdrops are currently on their way into full bloom and I see hints of daffodils on their way too :)
GPS has potential to be a bit jumpy because of the trees and the magic of course!
