Geocache Description:

Come travel the trail of the buffalo at the Historic Buffalo Geotrail Event! The City of Stamping Ground and the Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Commission are pleased to announce the opening of the Historic Buffalo Geotrail in Stamping Ground, Kentucky.

The Historic Buffalo Geotrail has geocaches for everyone regardless of your skill level in geocaching. It is an exciting event to draw attention to the rich history of the Stamping Ground area. This event is sponsored by the City of Stamping Ground, Kentucky and the Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Commission.

The Historic Buffalo Geotrail consists of 10 geocaches located in Stamping Ground and the surrounding area. Each registered individual will receive a passport at the event detailing the coordinates and significant history of each of the 10 sites. At each site you will need to locate the geocache container that contains a custom stamp to show that you have visited there. Stamp the corresponding block for each geocache location. Upon completion of all 10 geocaches located along the Historic Buffalo Geotrail, bring your completed passport back to the event area and you will receive a stuffed buffalo, event magnet and other items while supplies last! Please note that we only have 90 buffaloes and magnets so be sure to arrive at the start to begin the trail at the opening time. Due to the limited quantity of items please allow only one buffalo and magnet per family or individual geocacher.

This is a FREE event and is open to anyone interested in learning about the history of Stamping Ground. There will be free water and snacks available for participants. You can pick up your passport at the event location. You will need to sign a liability waiver prior to beginning the Historic Buffalo Geotrail. There will also be a clean-up CITO (Cache In Trash Out) event in Buffalo Springs Park at 2:00 p.m. and will listed as a separate geocaching event (GC6CVBV).
