This geocache is located in an area recently affected by the wildfires of August 2025.
For reasons of personal safety, as the area is still not in proper condition for visits, this cache will remain temporarily disabled.

Nature and the local communities will need some time to recover, but we believe that soon we will be able to share this special place with all geocachers again.

We plan to reactivate the cache as soon as conditions allow. Thank you for your understanding — and let’s keep the hope that this beautiful region will come back even stronger. 🌱✨

Subindo a aldeia do Piódão, por entre as diversas casas de xisto, alcançamos no topo a velha eira comunitária, mesmo situada no topo da aldeia. Mas o nosso objetivo é alcançar ainda um ponto mais elevado, pertencente a um caminho existente por estas bandas, a e Rota da Peneda da Sombra.

Estamos num trilho, onde só caminhando temos acesso a este local, e onde podemos ver a aldeia do Piódão de uma perspetiva bem diferente, bem como a capela do e os socalcos envolventes.
Going up in the small village of Piódão, crossing the houses made o shale, we are at the top, where we can see the surrounding mountains and all the houses of the village. Our goal is to go a bit more up, to walk along a small route that was in this area, the called “Rota da Peneda da Sombra”.

We are on a track, were we can only access by walking, but the effort is rewarded by the wonderful views.
