The Brouhard Pioneer Cemetery was located in the NE 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of Section 5 in Milford Township, Story County, Iowa. There is no doubt that the bodies buried here were never moved, but after speaking with the county and with a nearby landowner, it appears that the stones existing in this cemetery were relocated to the nearby Pleasant Grove Cemetery, which is about 0.4 mile west of here on the same road across the interstate. The county does not have records of burials at the Brouhard Cemetery. A group visited the site in the early 1990s and was unable to locate any of the stones and since there aren't proper burial records, it is entirely possible that these stones were picked up and moved to the nearby cemetery or were simply plowed under by farmers over the years.
I am going to continue on my mission to locate this lost cemetery, hoping to discover it's hidden location soon. Until then, enjoy the cache!
