This Wherigo will take you on a short adventure around the Fairfield Sports Complex. Follow the story to help make sure Glitter Star's special day is a huge success.
The cache is not at the posted coordinates. You can start anywhere in the area and the cartridge will direct you to the location where the story begins.
What is Wherigo
Wherigo allows people to create and play GPS-enabled adventures in the real world. They can be games, tours, puzzles, or stories that use your GPS receiver or smartphone to guide you to physical locations and interact with virtual objects.
What do you need to play
- The cartridge that contains the story. Click here to open the cartridge page on Wherigo.com.
Note: You should login using your Geocaching.com account.
- A Wherigo enabled device. Some Garmin GPS receivers and most smartphones will work
- You will need to download an app if using a smartphone (Android, Apple, Windows)
Cartridge Information
- The cartridge can be completed in about 40 minutes.
- The round trip is about 3/4 mile.
- The cartridge takes you to 9-10 zones.
- You should not enter any tennis courts, baseball fields, roadways, backyards, or buildings.
Hints
- If you're ever not sure what to do next, check the task list for instructions.
- Download the cartridge for "Pocket PC Device" if you are playing on your phone or tablet.
- Make sure your sound is turned on if you are playing on your phone or tablet so you can hear the sound effects.
- With Wherigos, it pays to be patient. So, give it a couple seconds to make sure the dialog is done loading before you push any buttons and allow a little time for your GPS to settle as you approach zones.
Devices
Your experience playing this (or any other) cartridge depends largely on which device you use. While it does have some annoyances, I prefer using my phone over my GPS receiver because it provides a better multimedia experience even though it does give up some GPS and compass accuracy. Your mileage may vary.
I have tested the cartridge with an android phone, windows phone, iPhone 4, and a Garmin Oregon. It should work on other devices, but there are no guarantees.
You do not have to connect to the internet while you are playing the cartridge, so you can even play using wifi-only tablets or smart phones with no service. The device does need to have a working GPS, and a built-in compass is recommended, by not required.
