Geocache Description:

The first in a series of caches around the Honington and Sapiston Heritage Trail. It also links the caches in Ixworth Thorpe to those in Fakenham Magna for those who would like a good day out walking and caching.

This is the beginning of a circular walk around the Honnington and Sapiston Heritage Trail and links the caches in Ixworth Thorpe to those in Fakenham Magna for those who would like a good day out walking and caching. We have included a variety of caches, some easy and some hard, to keep you on your toes so hopefully there is something here for everyone. There is a children's playground about half way round (just before you get to Honington Church Micro) if you have children with you. Keep an eye out for the barn owls as we have seen several out hunting whilst placing this series. One flew by us about 3m away - amazing!

I have added a map of the trail paths below to help you find your way round. Parking can be found at several points along the route but the one I have suggested in the waypoint is very near the start and is the most ideal. I suggest doing the walk in ascending order as the footpath signs are easier to follow. You will need the usual tweezers and a pen. As it is a country walk I would also wear trousers. There will be stinging nettles in the right season.

From the car park turn left then take the footpath to the right - down the private road to the church (signposted).

This is a sneaky cache based on a cache by one of the areas caching greats. Just had to give it a try! Please replace as found.

You are looking for a custom cache. We have made it slightly easier for you than the original.

I have added a map of the trail paths below to help you find your way round.

Parking information can be found at the waypoint listed in the first cache of the series.

I hope you enjoy our first series.

From here carry on down the track to the church.
