This cache is located at the top of the tallest falls in NYS
This point is for the upper shelf of Kaaterskill Falls (elevation about 1970') There is a published trail to the lower shelf, but this area is pretty much only known to locals -- you'll see why they don't spread it around. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLIMB TO THE TOP FROM THE BOTTOM!!!!!! This area cannot be traversed safely. People die every year @ the falls. The maintained trail to the cache location is the only way to get to the top of the falls.

follow to a gravel parking area and take the short trail down to the top of the falls
The trail is a well maintained loose gravel trail.
BE VERY CAREFUL!!! this cache, although easy, is not meant for children the falls can be a very dangerous place.
in order to claim credit for this, email me a description of the memorial you pass on your way down the trail. The memorial was erected for a girl who was a group leader for an “Awakening” program (this is a freshmen orientation program aimed at challenging outdoor education led by peers). While leading her group at Kaaterskill Falls, she fell from the cliff and died instantly as a result of her fall. (this information was provided by EkZeteo2, thank you!)
