This geocache has been placed by Somerset Wildlife Trust's Routes to the River Tone Project . We are going wild in our garden and making it a more friendly place for wildlife. A garden is a great haven for wildlife and together our gardens make a living landscape connecting green spaces and reserves.
We have been spending the odd lunchtime trying to make our garden better for nature. The bird feeders have proved popular with visitors including jays, goldcrest, blue tits and collared doves. We have also put up some boxes to encourage nesting. A composting bin is a great way to help reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill. We built one with wooden pallets and now we are composting are garden waste and non cooked kitchen waste - that seems to be a vast amount of teabags! A pond is great for wildlife and we can't wait to see what moves into ours. Frogs and toads are great natural slug killers and should help protect our flowers. The local wildlife WATCH group built us a fantastic bug hotel and will be back to see who has moved in. In the stream beside the office otters, kingfishers and water voles have been spotted- Taunton's waterways are amazing! Please let us know if you spot any wildlife at geocaching@somersetwildlife.org
