This is my 5th Geocache hide, 2nd in the series dedicated to my new car (and first official Geocaching vehicle). After my last car was written off after a minor car accident, I updated to a Subaru Forester, my first 4x4. I have never owned a 4 wheel drive before, but as my 3 kids are getting bigger and my love of Geocaching sends me occasionally off road, I decided it was time.
To celebrate this milestone, I decided to hide some Geocaches with a Sports car theme. As there are some street names near my home with car names, I thought I would hide a Geocache as close as possible to them, while highlighting a park or significant area as well.
History: The Porsche AG company was founded by Ferdinand Porsche in 1931. They are a German automobile manufacturer specializing in high-performance sports cars, SUV’s and sedans. Porsche AG is headquartered in Stuttgart and is owned by Volkswagon AG, which is itself majority-owned by Porsche Automobile Holding SE. Initially, the company offered motor vehicle development work and consulting, but did not build any cars under its own name. One of the first assignments the new company received was from the German government to design a car for the people, that is a "Volkswagen". This resulted in the Volkswagon Beetle, one of the most successful car designs of all time. The Porsche 64 was developed in 1939 using many components from the Beetle. Porsche's current lineup includes the 911, Boxter, Panamera, Cayenne, Mecan and the 918. Porsche's company logo was based on the coat of arms of the Free People’s State of Wurttemberg of former Weimar Company.
The Cache: A small container placed on a bridge that crosses Darebin Creek. If you park in Porsche Crt to the South, there is a elevated wooden playground for the kids to play on. There is limited parking here though. The best place to park is at the end of Cottage Blvd, with a short stroll to the Cache. There are plenty of walking tracks around this area of Epping, so feel free to explore them when you've found it. BYO pen. FTF Prize is an unactivated Trackable.
***Congrats to omegaman1971 for getting the FTF***
