Geocache Description:

There was originally a microcache here, but following several incidents where the cache container would disappear, I've decided to convert it to a virtual cache. To claim credit for the cache, email me and tell me the name of the quarry where the granite was mined, or alternately, post a photo of yourself and your GPS at the monument.

This is a monument commemorating the Battle of Four Lakes in 1858.
On September 1st, 1858, 700 soldiers under the command of Col George Wright, U.S. Army, routed 5000 allied native americans. In a running battle that lasted four more days, the native americans were eventually defeated. This was the last armed conflict between the allied nations and the U.S. Army in the Inland Northwest.

Stop in at the Saddle Inn for lunch and a cool refreshment!!
