Locke of Olde Cache Traditional Cache
Gimpy: After negative reports, went to visit the cache site. The area isn't what it used to be as far as cleanliness. What a shame.I brought along a garbage bag to clean out some junk & looked for the cache where I placed it.As noted by previous cachers, cache is gone. I'm not going to replace it again, as it seems the area now attracts some undesirable attention. Thanks to all the cachers that for years appreciated this cache.

The cache is located not far off an established trail, & should be accessible to cachers of all ages.
The cache container is a retired .50 cal. ammo can, painted green, with white lettering identifying it as a geocache. Its' location is very near the long ago retired Lock 62 of the original Erie Canal system, in Pittsford, NY. The cache location was not meant to be a serious challenge, rather to highlight a little bit of history of days gone by. Back in the days when narrow packet boats were one of the main means of transporting goods on a New York to Buffalo route. The cache is the same one that I pulled from the "Tinker Nature Park", so, aside from some items I've added, the contents are pretty much what cachers have put in it. Quite a variety. Bring the family along & look back in time. There are no plaques or signs there that tell the locks story, but many web sites are available that tell the canals history dating back to the late 1800's. Enjoy.
