MVL TB Hotel Traditional Cache

Greatland Reviewer: Hello surfnski4jc,

I have been going through caches that have multiple "DNF" (did not find) logs, which is often a sign that a cache is missing. Generally cachers avoid hunting a cache with many DNF logs, so it is a good idea for the Cache Owner to check the cache and either replace it or post a log to the cache page to tell fellow geocachers that the cache is still there, but they might need new eyeglasses. No action by the Cache Owner may result in a cache being archived to keep the cache from appearing in local Pocket Queries.

Please reenable the cache page after you have maintained your cache. To reenable the cache, go to the cache from your Account page on GC.com. Under "Admin Tools" in the upper right-hand corner, click "Enable," write your note and click "Submit log entry."

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Geocache Description:

When I travel to travel the mainland, I appreciate when I can do a hike that has a number of geocaches on it.  I thought it would be neat to try and create a similar hike on Oahu.  I chose to do this on the Makiki Valley Loop.  There are now 20 caches on this loop. I hope you enjoy!

The Makiki Valley Loop is actually a combination of the Kanealole Trail, the Maunalaha Trail, and the Makiki Valley Trail.  It is a little over three miles RT.  The east (right side from the Trailhead) has a bit steeper pitch/climb to it.  So you can adjust the direction of the loop depending on if you want a little more or less climb.  The trail has enough pitch to get your heart rate up, but isn't so taxing that kids can't do it.  I see plenty of kids doing this hike.  It is not that strenuous.

I plan to add caches to this loop over the course of the next several months.  I will not be placing them "in order".  In other words, don't worry about the number in the title - they aren't intended to be sequential finds.  Just keep hiking the loop and you will come across all of caches.

One thing to note.  There is alot of foliage on this trail, so GPS readings can be a bit sketchy.  I will continue to create waypoint averages as I hike this loop and refine the coordinates appropriately.

There is an alternate path leading to the trailhead from the parking lot. Most folks walk on the paved road. The easiest way to this TB is to take the alternate path, not the road. It is meant to be a 1-1 TB Hotel, so please take only as many as you leave.  Mahalo for your help.
