This cache is part of the Virginia State Parks 80th Anniversary Adventure. Each state park has a unique cache for this series.
This cache is in a clear lock-n-lock container and will contain a logbook, pencil and unique collector's card. There are small prizes for finding 5, 10, 20, and ALL of the caches. Most parks require a small parking fee while geocaching. For more information go to: http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/parkfees.shtml
Drive approximately 3 miles from the park’s entrance and park at the Massie Gap parking lot. Take the Rhododendron Trail through Massie Gap and along Wilburn Ridge by following the blue blazes. The trail will meander through blueberry bushes, hawthorn trees, and small blackberry brambles. The cache is fairly easy to find, just off the right side of the trail. Along the trail you will be able to see the The Big Pinnacle on Haw Orchard Mountain, as well as the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Herds of wild ponies graze along the grassy balds of Wilburn Ridge helping to maintain this spectacular view.
