Geocache Description:

Background and instructions:

Given how popular my previous caches of this format have been, I'd thought I'd put another one out. This one is a fairly straightforward nano find after a three-stage music-related puzzle.

  • The image in the gallery contains the artwork from 10 classic albums. These are labelled A to K. Use the directions below to find a specific word from the the artist/group's name or album title. For example, for clue J you need to use the second word of the artist/group's name. So if you think album J was released by The Who, the relevant word is 'who'. You should end this stage with a single word for each letter A to K.

  • Calculate the value each relevant word using standard U.K. Scrabble tile values. So if have taken the word 'who' for album J, you would get the result J = 9, as the W and H are each worth 4 and the O is worth 1.
  • Substitute those values into the formula below to obtain the final coordinates.

The directions:

A    The fifth word of the album title
B    The eight letter word in the album title
C    Last word of the album title
D    Last word of the album title
E    The name of the band
F    The second word of the album title
G    The name of the band
H    The second word of the band name
J    The second word of the band name
K    The artist's first name

The formula:

N: (D x J)º (B + E + H) . A (C x K)
W: 00Fº (B+G) . (E - K - D) (F + G + J)

Hints:

All the albums were released in the U.K. between 1965 and 1985.
Going from A to K, the albums are in chronological order.

The cache:

The cache is a magetic nano. The cache itself should not be difficult to find. It is accessible at all times. It is in a street-lit residential area but there are no properties directly overlooking the cache location.

Congrats to 1+one for the FTF!
