Geocache Description:

Let's get the West Rocks Conservation Area cleaned up.
The Grey Sauble Conservation Authority and the Mid-Western Ontario Geocachers
are joining forces to tidy up this section of the Niagara Escarpment.

It is a quick C.I.T.O. event Saturday April 23rd, 10:00 am till Noon.

This event is scheduled to coincide with Earth Day and Geocaching's 14th annual International CITO week.

With Blacks Park located below, the majority of West Rocks Management Area is on top of the Niagara Escarpment in a upland hardwood forest with many fern species. There are scenic lookouts that provide beautiful views over the City of Owen Sound. Approximately 4,327 metres of Bruce Trail meanders through this property, with an additional trail system linking other trails to the Bruce Trail. The West Rocks property is 89.9 hectares (222acres) and is owned by Grey Sauble Conservation Authority.

Let's show our support for a great park along the Niagara Escarpment.

C . I . T . O .

On street parking will be at the rear entrance into Blacks Park, with access up on to the escarpment. The Bruce Trail and Niagara Escarpment can be challenging terrain, so be sure to bring appropriate footwear. I will stay down in the Park area for those who come late or must leave early. We will be providing bags and gloves for everyone, and if you happen to find trash that is too big to carry out, please waymark the Coords. We will send in a 4-wheeler or truck or crane later. When the clean-up is complete, please return your bags to the park's rear entrance for pickup and disposal, and be sure to tell us what you found.

To say "Thanks", Grey Sauble is donating a pair of door-prize tickets to the Earth Film Festival on Thursday April 28th in Owen Sound. The feature film is The John Muir Project, with an opening film of Grey Bruce Drone Cinematography, so be sure to put your name into our draw.
