This trail is yet another expansion of the existing trail system. The Ted Reep Trail was featured in last years Geocoin Event. The trail is approximately 1.5 miles along the Skagit River through property owned by Wildlands Inc. Wildlands is a leader in Ecosystem and Mitigation Banking. This area is a 282 acre parcel focusing on conservation of the Salmon, Steelhead, and Bull Trout native to the Skagit River. Additionally, they have a large variety of tree plantings in the lowlands.
The Mount Vernon Parks has an easement for the Ted Reep Trail through Wildlands property. It starts from the parking lot of Salem Lutheran Church, and continues to the area of this cache. The trail is nearly done. The gate here is posted as 'No Trespassing', and the trail is not yet complete. Check back and watch for the Parks Kiosk that will be here. If you start the trail from Salem, you'll end up here. The trail is flush with native vegitation and has a beautiful beach at mid point. It's a very popular spot for fisherman and day picnics on the sand.
This cache is placed to educate people on where both ends of the Ted Reep Trail are. Future plans for this trail include linking to the Riverbend Loop trail via the Dike trail. Although this is not yet an exciting spot to visit, it will be soon.
The current roadway to the trailhead is unpaved, potholed, and narrow. We would suggest parking at the parking area designated and walking in.
