A rare phenomenon occurs at the headwaters of the Homosassa River. Thousands of fresh water and saltwater fish comingle in the warm brackish waters. Manatee are also attracted to the area and travel between the spring and the gulf Of Mexico, nine miles away.

This occurs in great numbers at the Fishbowl within the HSWSP. Admission is necessary to ""Walk Under Water".

People have always been enticed to the clear waters of the Homosassa River , some even believe that they have healing powers.
