Lynyrd Skynyrd - Great Rock Band Series Traditional Cache
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Great Rock Band Series
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
I have placed a series of 26 caches, one for each letter of the alphabet, to pay tribute to some of the Greatest Rock Bands that have entertained us for years. I walked approx. 7 kms one way to place them. They are along old woods roads so the walking should be easy going most of the year. The trail is groomed in the winter for snowmobilers. Good hiking boots would be recommended. . Please make sure that all cache containers get closed properly to prevent damage to the contents.
Lynyrd Skynyrd had established themselves as one of the most successful rock bands of the ’70s by the time they released Street Survivors in October 1977. The group’s career would come to a tragic halt just three days later, on Oct. 20, 1977, when their twin engine plane went down in a swamp in Gillsburg, Miss., killing three of the band members, a tour manager and both pilots on impact. The group had put together a string of iconic hits including “Free Bird,” “Gimme Three Steps,” “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Gimme Back My Bullets” prior to the release of Street Survivors.
