Geocache Description:

Unfortunately destruction often comes with progress. I hope these people will finally rest in peace. The cache is located near the enterance of the cemetery, It's a very earthy cache, but not buried

Wilder Cemetery is right on the side of AR Hwy 92 between Plumerville and Springfield, AR. The original Cemetery is under the waters of Brewer Lake. The relocation was done by the US Corps of Engineers. They mapped the original cemetery and sent notification requesting relocation permission and death info to living kin before relocating the graves. A large file of data on the cemetery and the graves that were relocated is available in the Corps offices in Little Rock (I had a copy printed out for me).
Many graves in the new cemetery were unmarked in the original Wilder Cemetery. Because a gentleman named Johnnie Oliver Walker was caretaker and knew personally many of the people buried there, he had the Corps make many concrete markers with names and dates. He also rode in the hearse with every relocation. It is one of the oldest cemeteries in the county. There are still many Unknown markers in the cemetery.
