The Niagara River may be powerful but it has been conquered by man. In fact these waters are totally controlled by Hydro Electric Utilities. Supply and demand dictate the amount of water flowing through this gorge. Quite often you can come down here early in the morning and the large rock here is high and dry giving the seagulls a place to rest. One can actually make their way onto it for a great fishing spot. It has been done but not without its consequences.

This water rises fast and that rock dips below the surface and has a vicious hydraulic behind it. You might as well be standing at the brink of Niagara Falls. The Niagara River may have been conquered and tamed by man but the average person needs to have the utmost respect for its power and be vigilant. Please stay back from the water’s edge and make sure children understand the dangers. Look away for a second here and you may be facing the worst case scenario.
