Geocache Description:

ACT Caching Birthday Event - 2016

As a lot of ACT cachers know, the first ACT geocache (visit link) was placed on the 15th April 2001.    Over the years we've held an event to mark this occassion.  To read more about these events and to learn a bit of history on them, please see the links below:

This was the 2009 edition (visit link)

This was the 2010, which incorporated the 2009 ACT Caching Awards (visit link)

And this was the big 10 year anniversary dinner event in 2011, incorporating the 2010 ACT Caching awards......and what was a great night. (visit link)      .

As for the 2016 event...which of course is the 15th anniversary of when the cache was placed....I thought it would be good to meet up at the summit of Mt Painter, about 100 metres from the cache itself.   Those newer cachers who attend and haven't found the cache, can then make the short stroll over to find it.   Unfortunately, the cache was muggled a couple of years ago...resulting in the original log book being lost forever, however the cache and a new logbook were soon in place and it has been all good since.

The simple plan for this years event is:

Event Date:    Saturday 16th April 2016

Timings:   The event will run for 30 minutes -  12.00pm - 12.30pm

Afterwards:    For those who are interested, we could meet somewhere at the Jamison Shopping Centre for lunch or simply a cuppa.

Listed below are the co-ords for the start of the trailhead that leads up to the top of the hill.    You should park somewhere in the street and make your way to the top for the 12.00pm start.    Some folk may take 10 minutes to walk up, some may take 15....so please factor that into your timings on the day.

Also please note:   As the street you'll be parking in is in a surburban area, please consider car pooling to the event to minimise the impact on the local residents.

Hopefully the weather will be kind to us.....I think it would be great to see 50 or so geocachers trek up to "Our Mecca" of ACT caching.
