How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Our traditional annual event -- Pinellas Geo Event 10!

Ft. DeSoto is one of the few parks that can accommodate this fast-growing event!

Registration will begin at 9:00 am and lunch will begin at 11:30am. The event will end at 2:00. Hot dogs will be provided for everyone. We will provide paper products (plates, cups, napkins and plastic eating utensils). We are asking everyone who attends to bring a dish, dessert, or snacks to share.

If you decide to bring chips, please bring the individual bags of chips and not the big bags.

Please post a “will attend” log and list how many adults and children attending. We need to be prepared for everyone!

We will have a table available for trading of Travel Bugs & Geocoins and another set up just for discovery. If you are interested, please bring your trackables with you.

We hope to have new caches for attendees.

New cachers of all experience levels are invited to our popular “Newbie Class” to learn the ropes of hiding and finding geocaches.

COME JOIN THE FUN. THERE WILL BE MANY CHANCES TO WIN PRIZES!

Tentative Schedule:

9:00 am to 1 pm – Games: GeoBingo, Geo Poker, speed timed geocache, etc

10:00 - First Newbie Class

11:30 am – Lunch

12:30 pm – Raffle begins

1:30 pm – Newbie Class (directly following raffle)

2:00 pm--End of the Event

PLEASE NOTE: There is an 85 cent toll on the bridges you need to cross to get to the Park and a $5.00 parking fee.
