Geocache Description:

Cache is not at the posted coords.

The largemouth bass is a freshwater gamefish in the sunfish family, a species of black bass native to North America. It is known by a variety of regional names, such as the brown bass, widemouth bass, bigmouth bass, black bass, bucketmouth, Potter's fish, Florida bass, Florida largemouth, green bass, green trout, gilsdorf bass, linesides, Oswego bass, southern largemouth and (paradoxically) northern largemouth, and in most southern states, good ol’ boys just call it a “Hawg”. The largemouth bass is the state freshwater fish of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Florida. Modern bass fishing has evolved into a multibillion-dollar industry. The sport of bass fishing is the sole career for many fisherman. Falls Lake is full of largemouth bass, you are bound to catch a nice one at any time!! So get out and try it………a word of caution, it is addicting!!

These hides are all along the water’s edge and I placed them via my boat. You can reach them by hiking via the following waypoints, but would make an excellent day on the water. I have tried to provide easy and shallow access from the water near each hide. If you want to hike, you can park at the fishing access near 58.750 37.640, the gate on Old Bayleaf Road near 58.670 37.580, end of Choplin Road near 58.160 36.310, and at the Forest Ridge parking lot near 57.950 34.880. The end of Old Keith Road near 58.300 35.600 is gamelands boundary, you can drop off and pickup only, DO NOT leave vehicles at the end of Old Keith Road, it is posted No Parking, be respectful of the signs. Parking is also available at various points along HWY 98. Please respect the private property boundaries. Hides 1-39 are located on gamelands open to hunting, primarily September until New Year’s Day, take necessary precautions during this time of year.

Most of all, enjoy the trip, and the views……and you are likely to see all types of wildlife!!! 8.190 6.703
