"Mario, at the end of the day, why do people like you more than me?" Asked Luigi.
"Luigi, I just don't know. I don't understand it either." Maybe it's the short guy mustache thing, or, maybe it's just how it is." Mario replied.
Luigi didn't understand why Mario was more popular than he. Luigi left Mario's castle, and headed back towards his mansion. As he walked, he found himself mystified by the stars. "Stars", he called out. Luigi sighed.
"In my life, my entire life, Mario has always been the poster child for perfection. He gets all the lovely ladies, and I get nothing. I feel like I'm on my own out here.
That night Luigi dreamed of a castle on a cloud, one where he could look down on his servants and be the master of the house. Where Mario would play second fiddle to Luigi, who finally got to be the hero.
Luigi woke up from his dream in a cold sweat. He realized that, even though it sounded great in theory, Luigi knew he was destined to be the supporting actor in the series. He knew he would spend the rest of eternity as second best.
Luigi wondered to himself if he would be better off by himself. He didn't need Mario to look after him. He was a grown man after all. Luigi packed what he could, hopped in his kart, and left Super Mario World.
The next day, Yoshi entered Mario's castle, panting, nearly out of breath. "What's wrong Yoshi? Why are you so out of breath". Mario asked. "It's Luigi, he's...he's....gone" Yoshi muttered.
Gone!? Exclaimed Mario. "To where has he gone?" Mario asked. "Nobody knows Mario, nobody knows."
Yoshi replied.
Mario knew what he must do. He packed his things, and made haste. He knew that it was his responsibility to bring him home. He knew, deep down, that Luigi had ran away, and that he couldn't survive in the dog eat dog world outside of Super Mario World.
