潮汐
満潮・干潮
海面の水位（潮位）は約半日の周期でゆっくりと上下に変化しています。 この現象を「潮汐」といいます。
潮汐が起こる主な原因は、月が地球に及ぼす引力と、地球が月と地球の共通の重心の周りを回転することで生じる遠心力を合わせた「起潮力」です。 地球と太陽との間でも、同じ理由でやや小さい起潮力が生じます。
下図のように、起潮力は地球を引き伸ばすように働くと、潮位の高いところと低いところができます。 潮位が上がりきった状態が「満潮」、反対に下がりきった状態が「干潮」です。
Tide
High tide, low tide
The water level (tide level) of the sea surface changes up and down slowly with a period of about half day. "tide" means this phenomenon. There is a cause of tide. The gravitation that the moon gives it to the earth. Centrifugal force to occur by turning around a common center of gravity of moon and earth. "tide generating force" matched these two power. Concerning earth and sun, slightly small tide generating force occurs for the same reason. When the tide generating force acts like the chart below to enlarge the earth, there are the high place of the tide level and a low place. If tide level is high; "high tide." If tide level is low; "low tide."
地球は1日に1回自転するので、多くの場所では1日に2回の満潮と干潮を迎えることになります。 また、月が地球の周りを約1か月の周期で公転しているために、満潮と干潮の時刻は毎日約50分ずつ遅れます。 さらに、満潮時と干潮時の潮位やそれらの差も、毎日変化しています。
The earth rotates once a day. It becomes high tide and low tide of twice a day at many places. moon revolves around earth with a period of approximately one month. So the time of high tide and low tide is delayed every day by 50 minutes. tide level and those differences between high tide and low tide change every day, too.
大潮・小潮
地球に対して月と太陽が直線上に重なるとき、月と太陽による起潮力の方向が重なるため、1日の満潮と干潮の潮位差が大きくなります。 この時期を「大潮」といいます。
月と太陽が互いに直角方向にずれているときは、起潮力の方向も直角にずれて、互いに力を打ち消す形となるため、満干潮の潮位差は最も小さくなります。 この時期を「小潮」といいます。
Spring tide and neap tide
If earth and moon and sun become straight, tide generating force grows big. Then differences between high tide and tide level of low tide of the day become big. "spring tide" means this. When sun deviates from moon in a right angle, tide generating force slips off in a right angle. I deny tide generating force then. The difference of tide level of tide becomes smallest. "Neap tide" means this.
大潮と小潮は、新月から次の新月までの間にほぼ2回ずつ現れます。 新月と満月の頃には大潮、上弦の月と下弦の月の頃には小潮になります。
spring tide and neep tide appear by approximately two times from the new moon to the next new moon. It is spring tide in the days of new moon and full moon. It is neep tide in the days of the waxing crescent moon and the waning moon.

陸繋島
陸繋島とは砂州によって大陸や大きな島と陸続きになった島のことである。
Land-tied island
A land-tied island is an island connected to a continent and the big island by a sandbar.
海岸近くに島があると沖からの波が島の裏側で打ち消しあい、波の静かな部分ができる。ここには沿岸流などで運ばれてきた砂が堆積しやすく、やがて海岸と島を結ぶ砂州が成長し陸続きとなる。この砂州のことは陸繋砂州（りくけいさす）あるいはトンボロという。
When there is an island near the shore, a wave denies it in the backside of the island. When a wave denies it, the quiet part of the wave is made. The sand which has been carried by shore currents deposits here. The sandbar which links the island to the shore before long grows up and becomes not separated by water. This sandbar is called a tombolo.
