Geocache Description:

The more things change, the more they remain the same.   The beltline & gentrification have certainly brought many changes to this side of town, and to this spot in particular.   Atlanta, the phoenix, is constantly in a state of evolution and change, some large some small.    This particular spot, for example, has metamorphosed from a sleepy neighborhood intersection to a muggle heavy zone-  Be sly as you hunt.

So many changes in front of your eyes-  For example, the bungalow you see nearest to the cache site (that is now The Collective) seems as if it has occupied this corner for 100 years.  It has not!   The home was moved 200 feet east in the process of redeveloping the Krog Street Market.  While there were originally homes all along the street, there was nothing but a blacktop parking lot where this house stands up until 18 months ago!   The business occupying the bungalow was originally housed on Elizabeth St, across from SAVI Market in a building which stood where a large new development now looms.    What you now know as KSM, the east-side's second epicurean hipster food court in one square mile, was recently Tyler Perry Studios and going back farther was Atlanta Stage Works.  You can still see some of the signage for these former businsses on the easterm wall of teh building.   With this recent development the traffic and local parking problems have increased an incredible amount.   Waddell St, a very skinny road where many residents do not have off-street parking,  impassible at times with patrons of these new developmentys and the beltline seeking to park wherever they can.  Another change that is soon to come will mosty likely be resident only parking on surrounding streets.    One invisible but very positive change right before your eyes has to do with drainage.   If you notice the topography, this intersection lies at one of teh lowest points in teh surrounding area.   In the not too distant past, rain of any substance would result in a good amount of flooding and standing water in the streets-  When KSM developed the parking lot they did some storm water work that was made a big difference in that regard.  Happy Caching & enjoy the changes that are yet to come!
