Dirdal IL
Idrettslaget i Dirdal ble oppretta i 1967 da man så behovet for en mer organisert form rundt idrettsaktivitetene i Dirdal. Tre lokale menn gikk i bresjen for å få dette til, og midlene ble samlet inn fra bingo- og filmkvelder. I starten var hovedaktivitetene fotball, terrengløp og friidrett. Idrettslaget ble meldt inn i Norges idrettsforbund to år senere, og etter å ha spilt privatkamper mot lokale lag i noen år ble DIL meldt inn i fotballkretsen i 1974.
Engasjementet for fotballen er stort i dalen. Til tross for at Dirdal er en relativt liten bygd er tribunen, som ble bygd noen år tilbake, som regel godt fylt opp av både små og store som heier på laget sitt. I 2015 rykket A-laget opp fra sjette til femte divisjon. I tillegg til A-laget er det også aldersbestemte lag for gutter fra fem år og oppover. Jentelagene er for alderne seks og tolv år. Idrettslaget også involvert i sykling, skisport, turn, dart og løping.
Hallen
Første spadetak på hallen ble tatt i mars 2014. Igjen viste det lokale engasjementet seg da store deler av arbeidet ble gjennomført på dugnad. Den 23. april 2015 var det endelig klart for offisiell åpning. I tillegg til gymsal finnes det også treningsrom og kafé som man kan leie. Hallen blir benyttet som gymsal av Dirdal skole, som ligger rett over veien. Andre faste arrangement inkluderer volleyball, badminton, tennis, fotball og innebandy. KRIK har også sine aktiviteter i hallen. Den blir også brukt til kulturtilstelninger som hAllsang, den årlige «skomakergadå» holdes her i adventstiden, hvor juletre og julegrøt kan kjøpes og loddtrekninger holdes. Før hallen ble bygd ble 17.-maifeiringen holdt i skolegården, men i 2015 ble feiringen flyttet over på andre siden av veien til det nye bygget.

Dirdal Sports Club
The local sports club, Dirdal idretttslag, was established in 1967 when the need for a more organized form around the local sports activities arose. Three local men started it all up with good help from other locals. The funds were raised from bingo and movie evenings at the local school. Two years later, they were registered in the National Sports Federatiton, and after having been playing private matches against other football teams in the area, Dirdal officially joined the football association in 1974.
The local commitment to the football team runs very deep in the community. Even though Dirdal, and the surrounding villages, are quite small, the newly built grandstand is normally quite full of local supporters, both young and old, when matches are being played. In 2015, the team was promoted from the sixth division to the fifth. In addition to the main team, there are also children’s teams for both boys and girls. Football is not the only sport the club is involved in. Bicycling, ski sports, gymnastics, darts and running also have their places within the club.
The new gymnasium
The build of the new hall started in march 2014. Again the local commitment to their sports club was apparent, as large parts of the build was done by volunteers. At last, on April 23rd 2015, the official opening was held. In addition to the gymnasium, the hall also has a fitness room and a café. The local school, located just across the road from the new building, uses the gymnasium for their PE-exercises. Other regular activities include volleyball, bandy, in-doors football, tennis. CHRISC, the christian sports organization, also hold their activities in the gymnasium. It is not only sports that are being held here. Concerts have been played, and the annual christimas market «skomakergadå» has also been moved down here. Also, the celebration of May the 17th has changed place, from the school courtyard to the hall.
