Glooscap Heritage Loop
Located at the Irishman’s Road Recreation Site just off Highway 14 in Newport Station, this series of caches is placed on the newly-upgraded Glooscap Heritage Loop. Constructed under the auspices of the West Hants Municipality on land leased by the Glooscap Heritage Archers Association, Nova Scotia's longest continuously run archery club, this trail loops through a mixed forest and follows the unique karst topography of this area. Additional sections of the trail are being developed and will be open in the near future.
Permission has been granted by the West Hants Recreation Department and by the executive board of the Glooscap Heritage Archers Association to place these caches. They ask that geocachers kindly be mindful of the following when using the trail:
-
Stay on the marked trail;
-
Archery targets are visible along the trail and are in use at various times throughout the year. Check at the on-site clubhouse to see whether practices/events are in progress before venturing on the trail;
-
All of the caches have been hidden with safety in mind. All hides are within 3m of the trail and well away from any shooting lanes;
Rehide the caches as well as or better than you found them and enjoy your walk on this trail!
