The first in a series of simple caches placed along the road linking Gladstone to South West Rocks. They have been placed with ease of parking in mind and designed to be done in order starting from Gladstone. If doing in the reverse order, please take care when parking and crossing the road, it is usually quite busy and people don't always stick to the speed limit.
The Major Oakes Bridge was opened in 1973 and links the two villages of Gladstone and Smithtown. In times of big flood events many of the locals have used the bridge as a safe haven for their vehicles. Read the short but interesting history of the Major while retrieving and replacing the cache. There is usually lots of traffic and some stealth may be required. Cache contains logbook only, please BYOP.
