Geocache Description:

This Cache is located near the summit of a popular mountain. I debated the difficulty ratings and rated it as such only because of the steep hike. It will take a couple of hours "round trip" although partly because the youngest crew member is only 3.

UPDATE...UPDATE..the youngest crew member, (who is no longer 3) replaced the box today, 11-28-15.
UPDATE...UPDATE...replaced the cache box on 6-25-12. It is now a plastic waterproof box. Sadly, my Army/Navy store couldn't get an ammo box. Also, I hade to remove the old log books because they were damp. Hopefully, I can return them soon, knowing that the log history is part of the fun.

Start your hunt on highway 107 just south of Cashers, NC. Once you find the parking lot, head for the trail head coordinates. The trail head coordinates are as follows: N 35*05.875, W 083*04.909. You will follow the well marked trail until you are nearly at the summit. Once you find the cache coordinates, you have only a few feet of diligent searching to find Chimney Cap. Please continue the remaining yards to the summit and find some wonderful views of the Cashiers, Saphire Valley area. As with most of these summits in NC, please be aware of the moss and other delicate plants which cover these rocks.
The Cache is an ammo box, painted silver, and the original contents are as follows:
1) a pair of Fokely sunglasses
2) a new fishing lure
3) a smiley face neck lanyard
4) a package of Army men
5) some hand lotion
6) a Mariah Carey CD
7) two American Flags
8) insect repellant, (please help yourself, but leave with the cache, in the summer, you need it!)
9) log book and pencils for logging your find
10) Spidey the travel bug. Please someone help him along his way. He is traveling the globe, possibly saving the world.

UPDATE...checked on the cache..still in good shape...full of goodies...08-07-03
