Geocache Description:

Welcome to Ravenscar. The town that never was! (For more info on that click the related website)

High up above the cliffs of the Yorkshire Coast, enjoy the stunning views of sea, cliff and moorland....and then head towards this little part of secret Yorkshire!

ESSENTIAL TO KNOW:
The only way down to the cache is down a short, muddy, steep bank (added as a waypoint)
This cache is probably not suitable for young children though older children (7/8+) with a sense of adventure will LOVE it. It is definitely NOT suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

TOP TIPS:
You'll probably want to bring a torch with you.
You'll probably want to be wearing wellies/walking shoes
You'll definitely need to bring your sense of adventure!
Although not essential - a photograph would be brilliant in your log!

THE CACHE:
Please, please replace the cache exactly how you found it.
Within the cache are three bags, one with the log & a pencil, one with swappable items and one for Travel Bugs and coins etc.

INFORMATION ABOUT RAVENSCAR:

The cache itself is located on the old railway line that ran between Scarborough and Whitby. The track, like many others fell victim to Dr Beeching in 1965. The tunnel is 279 yards long and has a sharp curve and with the gradient up to Ravenscar being 1-in-39 it proved troublesome for many trains. At the other side of the tunnel (only available by walking above land NOT through the tunnel) the old station platform is still there with Ravenscar's original name of 'Peak' on display in the brickwork. You will also find lots of information about the railway line here if you wish to do so.
