Geocache Description:

This is #4 of a small series to connect the Pacific Highway to the lovely towns of Smithtown and Gladstone, NSW, where there are already several caches to keep everyone happy. This bridge is named after Major Henry Oakes, who was the first commissioner for crown land in the Macleay district.

There's a great choice of food outlets and a couple of hotels where the best of meals are available in pleasant surroundings. Fish and Chips are also available if you prefer takeaway meals to eat beside the Macleay River. Nearby you'll find Summer Island Road, that takes you for a great drive beside the Macleay River, and links up with Plummers Lane, where you can continue to South West Rocks, or turn back towards the Pacific Highway. Near GZ you'll notice a lot of Silky Oaks. Could these have been the "Majors' Oaks" ?

You'll be searching for a small camoflaged container. smiley

This area of Kempsey Shire is part of the Macleay River flood zone, where you are standing now is under water when in flood and the cache has been placed with this in mind.

*** Congratulations to Jasco for the FTF honours ***
