Geocache Description:

The Texas Spirit Quest
is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries, tombstones and local lore.

(NOTE: this cache is NOT by the cemetery. See below for directions.) There are 27 interments here, ranging from 1871 to as recently as 2004. Members of the Hasty and Tomlinson families, among several others, have been laid to rest here.

To reach the actual site, head toward Florence. There will be a dirt road on the north side of CR 226, right next to a house. You can take that a few hundred feet to the north. The cemetery is on the right side, just beyond the fence, in an overgrown area a short distance before where the lane turns to the left. It can be difficult to spot. You may see a deer stand on the far side of the plots. Please note that this road may be under development, but at any rate the fields are definitely being actively farmed. As is always the case, corrections to the listed coordinates are appreciated.
